When the Countdown Ended...
The night before flying to Europe I chose to have my last American meal at Zoe's (which is actually Meditteranean but it's fine). I could eat their Steak Kabobs with grilled veggies and mashed potatoes every day. And also their basil pesto hummus with hot pita.
On Wednesday morning, Tyler and I left Little Rock at 6 a.m.
We had to stop by Starbucks, because what's an early morning without it, and I got an iced passion fruit tea and a chocolate croissant.
We guiltily (for me at least) stopped to get McDonald's and Taco Bell breakfast around 8 a.m. before arriving at the Memphis Airport around 9:30 a.m.
I checked my suitcase and it only weighed 46 pounds (4 less than the max.) , even after throwing all my extra beauty tools that I didn't need in at the last minute.
Tyler and I said our goodbye and I walked with my group through security and to our gate. I called my grandparents to tell them goodbye and texted a few people before Madison and I went to get Moe's for an early lunch and I had my last sweet tea for 3 whole months.
We boarded our first flight and left for Chicago at noon. I loved flying over the city and seeing the snow and frozen lake. I haven't been to Chicago but it's on my list.
From Chicago we flew 7.5 hours to Madrid and I was seriously impressed with dinner on the flight with Iberia. I got to enjoy it while watching The Intern, which is now one of my favorite movies. I can't believe I waited so long to see it. Anything with Anne Hathaway is always a winner.
We arrived in Madrid at 9 a.m. and raced through the airport and customs to board our last flight to Granada.
I really enjoyed the chance to get to know the people I will be living with for 3 months before we got to Lanjarón, and traveling together made sure that happened mas rapidamente.
From Granada we took the short 45 minute bus ride to our new home. I was blown away by the mountains and the town. Seeing pictures on Google and from students that have gone in the past in no way prepared me for seeing Lanjarón in real life.
