Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Transportation & Hostels: $300 & $120

Amsterdam was a special trip. It was more spent traveling to and from it than time spent there (kind of like Lagos) but it was so worth it.

On Thursday we traveled to Malaga and to Barlovento.

We took a taxi and had dinner at Amigos Grill in Muelle Uno and Amorino's Gelato in the center of town before heading back for the night.

Friday morning we took our ride to the Airport and flew Vueling into Amsterdam Airport Schipol where we took a train from the airport (after taking pictures at the IAmsterdam sign out front) to the stop our Hostel directed us to.

We stayed at Lucky Lake Hostel in Vinkeveen, outside of Amsterdam because once again, staying in Amsterdam even at a hostel was expensive and so were the flights!

This hostel doesn't open until April but it was so cute and I loved staying outside the city.

We spent all day Saturday in Amsterdam but spent Friday evening and Sunday morning biking 15 minutes to Abcoude and having a wonderful dinner and gelato and just enjoying the Dutch countryside.

This hostel is more like a (brightly colored) campground on the lake than your usual hostel and I highly recommend it.

They shuttle you from the train stop to the hostel and back for free and they have a free breakfast bus too.

The website for the hostel was great and the directions for everything were well written.

On Saturday we shuttled back to the train station but bought a one time ticket and rode into Amsterdam Central.

We spent the day eating (cheap) street food and walking to all of our stops.

It was a lot and you could get a day pass to the metro if you prefer but it is always nice to see the city by walking rather than popping up in places.

At the end of the day we bought another one time ticket and rode back to our stop where we were shuttled back to the hostel.

On Sunday we took the train from the stop back to Amsterdam Airport Schipol.

Our only issue there was waiting for our train on the wrong side of the tracks and missing a few before we realized and went to the other side.

Security at this airport was the longest line I encountered the whole trip but it only took about 30 or 45 minutes to get through.

We taxied from the Airport in Malaga to Barlovento and Monday morning, taxied to the bus station in Malaga where we caught a bus to Granada and then back to Lanjaron.
